Six Seasons and a Movie art show Saturday Programming
Once the doors open at 11am, you’ll be free to go inside and check out artwork by various artists from around the world. Make sure to keep track of the Greendale logos. They can help guide you towards tiny bits of useful information about each piece. And if you still need additional assistance, just look for any of the PixelDrip staff standing nearby.
And there’s still more to enjoy once you’ve seen all the artwork. Check out the Puppy Parade in the middle of the afternoon courtesy of Annie Wilkes. Watch a sneak preview or even get interviewed for the Six Seasons and a Movie documentary that is currently in the process of filming throughout summer 2012. Enjoy some music provided by Dormilon and Christian Tincher. Challenge someone at the character guessing board game provided by Lusy DeCoursey. Head over to the video game kiosks and play short demos of two different games. One is a choose your own adventure game that gives you the experience of taking classes at Greendale Community College. The other is an old school platformer that will take you on a journey to the center of, well, you’ll have to see it for yourself.
Is that still not enough? Maybe you want some prizes to to go with your experience. Then make sure to participate in one of the many contests that will be running throughout the day.

This all leads up to…
The Greendale Costume Contest
Prize: Opening reception badges, the Air Vent Stash.
Rules: Attend the Six Seasons and a Movie art show dressed as any of the characters from Community (wearing a goatee doesn’t count). Go to the PixelDrip table and register by 4:30pm. At 5pm, contestants will present themselves to the rest of the attendees. Our judges will score them on criteria like creativity, authenticity, and technical skill. And audience support certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Before you start assembling your Pillowman, Boob-A-Tron 6000, or Weyland Yutani Power Loader costumes, keep in mind that the lack of mobility and vision will keep you and others from enjoying the art show to its fullest. And summer in Los Angeles can get quite hot. Be considerate of yourself and others.
We will award several winners with badges that will allow them entry into the opening reception party later that night. However, there can be only one grand prize winner. This awesome individual will receive the Air Vent Stash. This means that in September, this person will receive a Six Seasons and a Movie desktop wallpaper featuring artwork by one of the participating artists, cootie catcher, digital copy of the Six Seasons and a Movie documentary, digital copy of the Six Seasons and a Movie game, DVD (NTSC) copy of the Six Seasons and a Movie documentary, a disc copy of the Six Seasons and a Movie game, and your name in the Special Thanks section of the documentary, sexy pin-up art print by Sasha Palacio, tabletop roleplaying game campaign, set of Super Emo prints by J. Salvador, and a purple pen.
But hold on a minute. What was all this talk about opening reception? The venue will close down for an hour at 6pm. Starting at 7pm, entry into Monk Space will be limited strictly to guests with badges. Anyone attempting to gain entry without a badge will be thrown into the Infinite Labrynth of Eternal Ice. Inside you’ll get to hang out with the artists and some very special guests of honor. Dormilon and Christian Tincher will continue to provide music as they have earlier in the day. In addition to them, four piece band Jazzerection will be playing a set that includes cover versions of familiar tunes from the show. We’ll also bring out some special snacks and drinks just for this occasion. There may even be a bowl of olives by the toilet. It’s a fancy party. One that will last until midnight.
So that’s June 23rd. Admission is free to the public. In addition to markets, restaurants, and supply stores in the immediate area, there will be a food truck parked just outside the venue during exhibit hours. Monk Space is located at 4414 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90004. Stay tuned for info about Sunday’s programming!
